A Southwest pizza recipe starts with a prebaked crust spread with a taco flavored sauce with black beans and topped with ground beef and cheese

  • 1 can (8 oz each) Hunt's® Tomato Sauce-No Salt Added
  • 1/2 cup (1/2 of 15-oz can) drained, rinsed Rosarita® Premium Whole Black Beans
  • 2 tablespoons (1/2 of 1.25-oz pkg) 30% less sodium taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 pound ground round beef (85% lean)
  • 1 prebaked pizza crust (12-inch)
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blend
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine tomato sauce, beans and taco seasoning in medium bowl; set aside.
  2. Cook beef in medium skillet over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until crumbled and no longer pink, stirring occasionally; drain.
  3. Spread sauce mixture over crust. Top evenly with beef and cheese. Place on ungreased pizza pan or baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until crust is browned lightly and cheese melts. Sprinkle with green onions. Cut into 8 slices.

This is a great recipe. I'm a big fan of non-traditional pizzas, and it's great to find one I can make at home. This is always a hit with the rest of the family too.

The beauty of recipes is they can be used as suggestions. You can use different meats, add your favorite veggies, go crazy with the cheese, and experiment with spices.
