1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 cup natural unsweetened applesauce
1 cup lowfat buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup nutlike cereal nuggets
1/2 cup chopped dried apricots

Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 2-1/2-inch loaf pan with baking spray; set aside.
Combine flours, sugar, baking soda and cardamom in large mixing bowl. Add applesauce, buttermilk, egg and oil. Beat with electric mixer on low speed just until blended, scraping side of bowl frequently. Fold in cereal and apricots. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Bake 50 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes in pan. Remove from pan to wire rack. Cool at least 30 minutes before slicing.
