Spray 18 silicone muffin cups with cooking spray. Whisk together cake mix, eggs, 7 tablespoons melted butter and milk or buttermilk in large bowl until well blended. Divide batter evenly into muffin cups.
Heat air fryer to 350°F. Place muffin cups in air fryer basket and air fry in batches until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 10 to 15 minutes.
Remove muffin cups from warm muffins and cool until easy enough to handle. Place frosting in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high 20 seconds, just until fluid. Dip tops of donuts in frosting and decorate with sprinkles, if desired.
For cinnamon sugar donut muffins, remove muffin cups from warm donut muffins and cool until easy enough to handle. Stir together cinnamon and sugar in small bowl. Place melted butter in another small bowl. Dip tops of donut muffins in melted butter and then roll entire donut in cinnamon sugar.
