The holidays just aren’t the holidays without delicious holiday treats. So take a sweet trip to the land of the North with these adorable North Pole cupcakes.
To make, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix
- Duncan Hines Fluffy White Whipped Frosting
- 1 cup Water
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- Shredded Coconut
Other items you’ll need:
- Cupcake tins
- Straws with Red/White Stripes
- White Card Stock (paper)
- Red Marker
- Scissors
- Artificial Berry Stem/Branch (found in stores with other holiday decorations)
- Glue Dots (other adhesives also work)
Step 1: Cutting
Cut the straws into thirds
Cut the artificial berries off of the stem; leave a small piece of the stem to go inside the straw
Step 2: Gluing
Attach glue dot to the top of the straw opening
Insert berry so that the stem slides into the straw and attaches with the glue dot
Step 3: North Pole Sign
Cut card stock into small rectangular strips (large enough to write “North Pole”)
On one side of the rectangle, cut the edges diagonally (this creates the effect of a directional sign)
Write “North Pole” using the red marker
Attach “North Pole” sign to the top of the straw using a glue dot
Step 4: Cup Cakes
Mix Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cupcakes per directions on the back of the cake mix.
Place mixed batter in a lined muffin tin
Bake per instructions
Once cupcakes cool, pipe Duncan Hines Fluffy White Whipped Frosting on each cupcake
Step 5: Set the Scene
Place shredded coconut on a plate (giving the appearance of snow)
Place cupcakes on the plate over the shredded coconut
Insert “North Pole” sign into each cupcake
Optional: add shredded coconut to the top of each cupcake for a “snowy” effect)
