The perfect Hot Dog! Yup, the only thing missing would be to find Rye bread hot dog rolls, then you could make them with swiss cheese melted in the rye hot dog rolls. Now that would be a thing of beauty!
Easy to make for a quick dinner
We love kraut and spicy mustard, and Hebrew National is our favorite brand of hot dog. Great combo!
As one who keeps kosher, I would recommend the Tuffuti parave cheese as a substitute. They make a white soy cheese that would work well on your Reuben.
My first reaction when I read the recipe was "where is the cheese" so I agree with the other comments. I like the idea of rinsing the sauerkraut but no sugar, brown or other wise. Also nix on the caraway seeds. Caraway is so strong it blocks out the flavor of everything else-maybe whole wheat buns would help. To the healthy living user, too much deviation (venison?) I also think the bun needs toasting. There is light thousand island dressing in the stores. I am definitely going to try this with my family.
We used venison dogs and lite salad dressing to try to make this a lighter option. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing to write home about, and my family loves reubens. Probably will not make again.
