Directions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, omitting salt.
  2. Meanwhile, cook sausage in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until crumbled and no longer pink, stirring occasionally; drain. Add undrained tomatoes and tomato paste; mix well. Reduce heat to low; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer sausage mixture to medium bowl; set aside.
  3. Drain pasta in colander. Place half of pasta in same skillet; top with half each of the sausage mixture and cheese. Repeat all layers. Cover skillet with lid. Place over medium heat; cook 5 minutes or until all layers are hot and cheese melts. Remove from heat; let stand 1 minute before serving.

Cook's Tips

The recipe was good but very much like many other lasagna recipes. I was disappointed because I was hoping for the special cheese that used to be in "Hunts Skillet Lasagna" in the box about 35 years ago. I guess Hunts does not want to share that special cheese sauce that made it's boxed Lasagna stand out from all the rest. Too bad I have missed it all these years.

Very good! My husband and I loved this one (but will probably half the recipe next time...we had LOTS of leftovers!)

I tried this, and to my surprise was good. My kids didn't like it that much. They rather I make it in the oven. But to me it tasted good, so maybe next time I won't tell them much. My oldest did like it, she said it would be better if I added more cheese, she is a cheese addict. I would also try to make it with chicken, my granddaughter doesn't eat pork. The next time I make it it will be with other meats.

My husband hates lasagna, but loves this dish.....so I just call it skillet pasta. I like that it is so much easier to make than regular lasagna but tastes so good.

Ths is an excellent recipe. The only change that I did was omit the 2 cans of diced tomatoes and the 1 can of tomato paste and substited 1 can of the Hunts spaghetti sauce (26.5 oz) and I used about 10 ounces of the pasta.. My husband just loved this and the kids, too. I will do this again and again!!!

Made a lot of food, and I agree that the 6 oz pasta was mistake. Also used part ground beef as all sausage is to spicy for us. dish did taste great and we did enjoy but really prefer lasagna from the oven. Guess this old dog is hard to teach new tricks!!!!!!
