A creamy rigatoni recipe made with hot Italian turkey sausage, fresh broccoli and red bell pepper tossed in a tomato cream sauce

Ingredients
  • 8 ounces dry rigatoni pasta, uncooked
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray (or try PAM® Organic Olive Oil)
  • 1 pound hot Italian turkey sausage links, casings removed
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 can (15 oz each) Hunt's® Tomato Sauce (or try Hunt's® Organic)
  • 1/2 cup heavy (whipping) cream
 
Directions
  1. Cook pasta according to package directions; add broccoli last 4 minutes of cook time. Drain.
  2. Meanwhile, spray large skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-high heat. Add sausage, onion and pepper; cook 5 to 7 minutes or until sausage is crumbled and no longer pink, stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and heavy cream. Bring just to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add pasta and broccoli to sauce mixture; toss to coat.

I used sweet Italian sausage and substituted milk for cream. It was outstanding! The hardest part is preparing the broccoli.
